H1/AS1 & AS2 Calculation Tool
Compliance made easier
How it works
1. Create a project
Give the project a name and address, pick the council (this sets the climate zone), and choose the standard: H1/AS1 for homes and small buildings, or H1/AS2 for commercial and other non-housing buildings over 300 m². Then add your design in whichever way suits you.
Enter it by hand. Type in each wall, ceiling, roof, floor and slab type with its area, plus your windows and doors, and the insulation you have specified. H1 Assist checks it against H1 as you go.
Or upload tables and save the typing. Most CAD/BIM software can export the same information as tables: wall types with their net area (m²) and stud depth, ceiling and roof types with their plan area (m²), floor and slab types with their area (m²), and a window and door schedule (or total glazing m² and type). Export them, or fill in our blank Excel template, and upload. Alternatively you can also upload a previous H1 calculation as a base to work from.
Either way, add your plans, specification and other handy reference documents too. H1 Assist's own software (never AI) can also read a window & door schedule and any insulation you've already specified straight off them, to help pre-fill your project. Save, and come back at any point to review or adjust.
H1 Assist reads what is in your tables. It does not measure walls, windows or doors off drawings, and it does not guess. Anything it cannot find is shown as Unknown, and the report is marked Incomplete until you fill it in.
2. Use our Tools or Concierge service
(A) Click VERIFY, RECOMMEND or OPTIMISE
VERIFY is for when your insulation is already specified. It reads your tables, fills in every wall, ceiling, floor and window, matches your insulation to the nearest product, and shows an H1 PASS or FAIL.
RECOMMEND is for when no insulation has been chosen yet. It ignores any insulation in your tables and searches the Eliment glasswool range for the most cost-effective combination that passes. If glasswool alone cannot pass, it shows how close it got and what else could change, such as glazing or underfloor insulation.
OPTIMISE keeps what you have entered, including your own changes, and re-searches for the most cost-effective glasswool for the walls and ceilings.
Results are only as complete as the information you provide. If any value is Unknown, the result stays Incomplete until you fill it in. Your plans and documents are read only by H1 Assist's own software, never by AI, and are never sent to any AI tool.
(B) Click CONCIERGE, and we do it for you
Send us your saved project, plans, and supporting documents, and our team has them professionally measured, runs the H1 and returns the finished project to your account. Fees may apply, and will be shown in your activated account. Normal turnaround is 5 working days, or 2 working days under Priority. The returned project is kept as a locked record of exactly what we delivered. Clone it any time to make your own adjustments, or to update it if the plans change later, without paying to have it done all over again. With this service, our partner QSs may use AI software to assist them with their take-off, but everything is reviewed by a real person.
3. Review and complete
Check what was read from your tables, fill in anything marked Unknown, answer the quick questions, and see how each change affects the PASS/FAIL result.
4. Download your H1 Report
Confirm the details, then download your finished PDF report for either H1/AS1 or H1/AS2. It carries your firm's name, address and logo, a heat-loss breakdown by element, totals for each section, and a method and summary statement for Council.
5. Other handy documents
You can also download a full glasswool specification (including supplier data sheets, installation instructions and Codemark), a site checklist, and an estimate of the packs required per product.
6. Invite your team
Invite colleagues, consultants or customers to your organisation. As the principal you can see every project, edit or clone them, and copy or move a project to another team member, who gets an email with a direct link. When someone leaves, their projects can be handed back to you or to another team member, or deleted.
